so here's the thing, i'm planning on going to college with my best friend that i haven't met irl yet 😅 (we met in virtual school 3 or 4 years ago, and they were the first friend i had had in ~6 years at that point) i'll hopefully be getting my degree in entomology, which is a lifelong interest and dream of mine. although my mom has always been supportive of my self expression, there are certain things she's not comfortable with for me just yet (like most piercings, which is fair tbh). on top of that, my stepdad now has an amazing position where there will be a lot of eyes on him and his family, which he worked very hard to get and i'm very proud of him for doing so, but that means there are a few clothing choices i can't make anymore without tainting my stepdad's reputation, which i don't want. once i get to college, i'll be able to express myself how i want without as much worry. i'll be able to go minimal contact with my dad, who has just generally been shitty to me and my sibling all our lives, which will obviously take a huge emotional burden off of me; _"and i think i'm gonna be fine,_ _i'm gonna be good now,_ _i'm gonna be everything i always wished i could now_ _i'm gonna be awesome,_ _i'm gonna be sure,_ _i'm gonna be everything you asked me for and more"_ they don't have the best home life, with their mom running off 5 states away and abandoning them with their grandparents for her alcoholic boyfriend, and their dad just generally not being there. their mom hardly sees them as her child, and more like a problem to brush off, until she sees it fit to use them to her advantage. they've had to take care of themself since they were very little, they've even been handling their own school enrollment. she's called their decision to do dual-enrollment this year "stupid". their grandparents do genuinely love them, but they can't be open about their identity with them. when they get to college, they'll be able to cut off their mom and not feel like a liability. they'll be able to be true to themself without worry; _"they're gonna be fine,_ _they're gonna be tip-top shape and tapping toes and fly_ _they're gonna act awesome,_ _and self-assured,_ _we're gonna seem contemplative, nonchalant and bored"_ we'll help each other out, just like we do now, but we'll be so much closer and we'll be able to help so much more. i'm going to show them how a family is supposed to love, and they're going to help me function with my disorganized brain. we're going to be our truest selves; _"i'm gonna be fine,_ _they're gonna be fine,_ _we're gonna be fine"_

I'm glad I found this song again after years. I've been repeating the little tip tap toes part for about two years and the years are real rough. I wish I had a way to show I'm fine although I'm not. I need to get some help with healing through all those things and certain not so lively thoughts have been reoccurring. But I think I'll be fine.
